Stamping on Patterned Paper

Paper from Lily Bee Design; stamps from the awesome WPlus9 Design.  Black card is white on the inside because I used A Muse Studio cardstock.  Sweet.

Vellum Flowers

are pretty.

MOOD WHEN DONE = light, sheer, happy, pretty

Supplies:

Stamps: Stampin Up Fabulous Florets; Waltzingmouse Ovals; Technique Tuesday Thinking of You
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo, Versamark, Stampin Up Whisper White Craft Ink
Paper:  A Muse Studio Lichen cardstock; Vellum cardstock
Other:  Ranger White embossing powder; Corner Chomper

Before and After: Soft Shell

Looks like a 10 minute card but lots of colored shells, backgrounds, etc. Here's 2 of them.

First up is the blue version -- the rectangle is A Muse Studio Sky ink stamped on an acrylic block and then stamped directly on the card stock.  Nice, but the sentiment is not centered.  Will still use this card.

And on this version the sentiment is centered.  Different background. Used one of the Impression Obsession Cover a Card background stamps.  These are amazing and include a variety of classic and not so classic designs.  Wish I had all of them!

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo; A Muse Studio Sky (can't remember what ink I used on the second card)
Other:  bling, PTI cream cardstock, random coloring tools

Large Sentiment = Easy Card

I am increasingly drawn to large sentiments.  My favorite company for these is Hero Arts.  And I like the sentiments themselves.  They are real words that I would speak to a non stamper!  

 

 Card Construction Details:

1.  Decided to use a layout that Kristina Werner is featuring.  Selected patterned paper to guide the rest of my choices.  

2.  A2 card with Confetti cardstock from Stampin Up.  (Do they still make this?  I found some of this during the "big clean up.")

3.  Trimmed cherry patterned paper to 4.5" x 3.5".  Trimmed corners.   Trimmed green patterned striped paper and more confetti cardstock.  

4.  Stamped sentiment using black and red Versafine cubes.

5.  Die cut felt flowers.  

6.  Put it all together with adhesive.

7.  Added faux stitching.  Hint -- use a ruler to space out lines if you don't have the skills to make it look good on your own.  I used a ruler.

8.  Punched hole in flowers with a Japanese Screw Punch and added large brad.  Adhered with large glue dot.

9. Put everything back where it belongs.  YIKES

Mood When Done = Cheery

Ink:  Versafine Onyx and Crimson
Other:  PTI flower die; random felt; Basic Grey brad; American Crafts Black Pigment Pro 03 pen 

 

Berry Sorbet Hearts

 

Here's a bright card that pairs a sentiment from Shady Tree Studio's Bouquets and Butterflies, a heart background from Papertrey Ink, and a Spellbinder's Heart die cut.  

Wanted to make sure that the sentiment on the heart flowed right onto the background -- so used vellum as a overlay.  Here is what I mean --

As you can see, I placed vellum over the background and taped the die cut dow with removable double sided tape, stamped and then removed the vellum.  I placed the heart where I thought it would look best, considering the layout, the fact that I had messed up some of the sentiment, and I wanted the little heart to be right in the V made by the heart die cut.

Also used PTI Impression plate to create the textured white card (mist the cardstock very lightly to get a decent impression).  PTI Berry Sorbet ink and cardstock.

New Shady Tree Studio in the House

Here's a quick card that is easy to make and mail. It uses one of my favorite images from Shady Tree Studio's Bouquets and Butterflies. The centers of the flowers are accented with Gold Liquid Pearls. I love the teal blue, cream, and brown color combo.

Happiness note: now that I've managed to successfully transfer to a new email and a new computer, and have started sleeping better, I may just have more to share later this week!

I love this sentiment.  Just a bit different.
Plus it reminds me of the Willie Nelson song.

Dear Paperlicious: Mr. DP and Shady Tree Studios Design Team Card

DP:   I'm joining a design team! Nancy is starting her own company. It is called Shady Tree Studios and I got an email from her asking me to join. I said yes!

Mr. DP:  Why???

DP:   Free stamps, fun, I like her nature style, get people to look at my blog, free stamps.

Mr. DP:  I thought you didn't care about all that.

DP:   I changed.  I spent all summer thinking about how I want to stamp more and this will push me.  I'm ready for the next level.

Mr. DP:   Next level?  You don't need any more levels.  You are going to quit in the middle of it. You'll get all nervous and say your stuff isn't good enough and that you are turning a hobby into a job and you will aggravate this company.

DP:  Nope, I've changed. I'm upping my game. I'm ready.

2 weeks later . . .

DP:  I'll do the dishes later. I have design team stuff to do.

Mr. DP:  Oh, the stamps came?

DP:  Yes, and now that I am a lawyer and an actual Design Team Member I have 2 jobs and can't do the dishes.  If I don't spend enough time on this stuff, my stamping will be horrible.  I'm worried.

Mr. DP:  Laughing  Oh so now I see the plan.  You want out of housewife stuff.

DP:  Don't forget to rinse those forks before putting them in the dishwasher. . .  .

Using Printed Vellum

Thanks for the welcome back! 

Here's a very soft card that uses vellum that I printed with a designer pattern from Stampin Up's My Digital Studio.  It is my favorite way to use the program.  You can adjust how strong you want the saturation to be and I oped for pale (uses less ink).  The printed vellum against white cardstock creates a lovely warm glow. 

I know the photo bites, but I've already mailed the card.  One lesson learned over the break.  Sending the card is more important than the blog.  Just trust me that you are looking at a masterpiece.

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse and I believe that the nature image is from Hero Arts.  I added some dots with a Copic marker before adding glitter on top of the dots.  Again, it's the genius in me....

I'm taking a break from blogging until September. (There's always a caveat, isn't there?  I was asked to help launch a sketch challenge blog and since my card is ready, I may be back with that post sometime soon.)  Otherwise....

I've been blogging for a long time -- at least 3 or 4 years and it is time to step back and breathe!  There's nothing wrong, other than a desire to refresh.

I hope to be back in September with bunches of stuff to share.  See you then!
