Carte - licious Challenge #2

Angel_2 Isn't this angel stamp from Lockhart darling?  Rose Ann from Paper Delightz sent me 6 images.  Funny how when you don't have the stamp itself, and you have a deadline, the pressure to produce causes careless errors.  I managed to color one image out of six that I was willing to share!

I am going to give this card, which is 4" x 4.25", to one of my son's teachers.  This woman is amazing.  She has 6 kids -- 2 out of college and 4 who are freshmen in college (yes, quads!).  She has taken Andy under her wing and arranged for him to spend a couple of days with her son at the University of Virginia a couple of weeks ago, so that Andy could check out the school.  Is that sweet or what??  She is truly an angel!

I can't wait to see what Rose Ann, Sue, and Melissa all did with this same image. We agreed to post our cards on Monday the 19th, so be sure to check out their versions as well.  I love the way typepad lets me write out my entire post and then set a date and time for it to go up on the internet.  Makes doing these challenges and posting them much more fun!

Supplies:  Lockhart Gardening Angel; Stampin Up Paisley Background stamp; Versamark ink; Ruby Red SU cardstock; Papertreyink White Cardstock for the base of the card; Prismacolor Pencils; Martha Stewart scallop border punch; SU corner rounder punch; sentiment from Impression Obsession (it is straight clear stamp, so I curved it); SU Chocolate classic ink and Copper Hardware.  The yellow paper is from Michaels, but I don't have the name.  I recently organized all my papers and they are no longer labeled (but in a nice huge rack so I can see all of them!).

If you are interested in a little personal update, keep on reading!  Otherwise, enjoy the fall wherever you are.

World Card Making Day Eve!

ThanksvirginiaI love the idea of a world wide holiday called World Card Making Day.  So why not celebrate the day before as well?

I have such a hard time making a patterned background.  I can never get the stamps placed properly, despite getting advice on this and trying to follow it.

Nevertheless, I think this card is bright and cheery and evokes a bit of the warm fall season we are having.

Supplies:  Beautiful Blooms stamp set by Papertreyink; Stampin Up:  Pumpkin Pie ink, cardstock and Summer Sun ink and marker.  Marvy Oval Scallop Punch, computer generated saying; white eyelet and gingham ribbon (sources unknown); dimensionals.

Sun Ripened Thanks

Sunripened_6

As I went through my stamps separating out the "keep" from the "sell", the Stampin Up Sun Ripened II set kept going from one pile to the other. I finally decided that, when in doubt, keep. This set reminds me of Italy, warm and sunny, with fruit trees and wine. Now that I think of it, I'm probably just thinking of the Godfather, which I've seen maybe 100 times.

In addition to Sun Ripened II, I used the following to make this card:

Stampin Up: Always Artichoke cardstock and ink, punch, and Copper Hardware; Beckett's Expression #80 Candlelight cardstock; yellow organdy ribbon (source unknown) highlighted with a yellow Sharpie (yes, you can color ribbons with a Sharpie!!); Cornish Heritage Farms Weathered Background stamp; Scor-it to make the embossed border and a sponge to distress the card a bit.

This is the 4th time I've tried to get this image and post to come out correctly. I hope the 4th time is the charm! Speaking of the blog, I'm still working on getting a subscription link, etc. I had them earlier today and they disappeared. Too bad I'm not paid to work on this blog -- I'd be rich!
