Challenges

I made another card based on the challenge layout found here at Clean & Simple.  Very similar to the card I posted yesterday. 

I've almost kept to my $50 a month budget -- purchased a few extras this month -- no stamps, just some essentials.  Had to replace the cutting plate for my Wizard and get some adhesive and threw in one new Copic marker.  Just enough to do my share to keep my favorite companies in business, but not enough to go hog wild....

My NEW Challenge?

Getting ready to send Andy to college this fall.  He had to complete an online survey on roommate and dorm preferences.  Of course he didn't tell me about it, but I happened to walk in on him while he was completing it.  I didn't let him see me, but tears came to my eyes.  He's really going! 

It is that whole circle of life thing...it is all good, but bittersweet. 

Card Construction Details: 

Just a few basics.  The top card uses patterned paper from SEI.  The Mimosa collection, which I received from I {Heart} Papers.  Most of the other products are the same as the ones on yesterday's post.

DP:  I made a card today. What do you think?

Mr. DP:  silence

DP:  Sorry I asked.
Mr. DP:  Well, the top has this crooked sewing thing.

DP:  It's a homey card. It is hand-stitched.  You want perfection?  I'll quit my job, stay home and learn to stitch perfectly.  I work full time, take care of this house, and stamp. 
Mr. DP:  You know what?  You can't handle the truth!  You want constant praise. Well, I'm telling you the card has crooked stitching. 

Addendum:  Dear Federal Government:  I hereby give 2 weeks notice.  See you on the blog!

How I made this card:

1.  Opened package from I {Heart} Papers.

2.  Looked at SEI Alpine Frost stamp set and coordinating papers and die cut.  Pretty stuff. Wished I was someone else.  Possibly Heather Nichols.  Definitely Heather Nichols.

3.  Made my Mom a snack.

4.  Blog surfed.

5.  Looked at the supplies.  Gave my Mom her pills.  Gave Andy his pills. 

6.  Checked out Pine is Here for layout ideas and inspiration.

7.  Trimmed pine cone paper, punched holes with Tim Holtz Design Ruler.  Removed sewing basket from top shelf.  Hit my nose with sewing basket.

8.  Prepared dinner for ungrateful unnamed person.

9.  Used embroidery floss to stitch layer.

10.  Stamped Greeting from stamp set onto Die Cut piece, with Burnt Umber Palette Noir and sponged some more ink on die cut.

11.  Added PTI Ivory striped ribbon and another die cut piece from SEI Alpine Frost.

12.  Put card together using dimensionals from SU.

13.  Got dissed by husband.
