A bright fun card to make, and, I hope, to receive.
Card Construction Details:
1. All cardstock is WHITE. All ink (except for Black) is Ranger Distress.
2. Took Faded Jeans ink pad rubbed it directly on white cardstock. This ink is wetter than other dye inks. It will slightly warp the cardstock.
3. Misted with water. (See those spots?) Great for depth. Decided spots were too bright and covered paper with Broken China ink to soften. Set aside to dry and work on flower.
4. Took Mustard Seed ink and rubbed direclty on white cardstock. Stamped flower in Memento ink on the Mustard colored cardstock.
5. Sponged Fired Brick ink near center of flower. Colored over center of flower with Copic. Added white gel pen dots.
HINT: the distress inks affect the texture of the cardstock when there is a lot of the ink. It breaks it down a bit, just like water. This made it harder for the gel pen to get traction. Like this look, but user happiness may vary.
6. Inked up background text stamp and wiped off part of the ink with a baby wipe. Stamped on blue panel. Lifting off part of the text adds a bit of interest and depth. Sponged Mustard Seed on the part of the panel with no or faded text.
HINT: Now is a good time to wash your hands.
7. Free handed the white gel border. Making believe it looks sewn.
8. Hand cut flower.
HINT: Am rethinking spending money on a lot of dies. Sometimes a die is necessary for a clean cut. But for a flower with such a ragged edge, It is easier to hand cut than use a die cut and then stamp, hoping to align properly. Didn't really care if my cutting was perfect. Took less than minute to cut and cutting cardstock that has been covered with Distress ink is easier -- the fibers have been broken down.
9. Made sentiment strip by covering white paper with Dried Marigold ink and edging in Fire Brick. Stamped sentiment and hand cut banner edge. It's not perfect but who is and cheaper than buying a banner die.
10. Adhered.
HINT: If you like cards that can fit in an envelope but like the "hanging off the edge" effect, just make the card itself smaller than A2. This card is about a half inch smaller than an A2, and with the flower and border still fits in an A2 envelope.
11. Satsified but decided to add some teeny tiny pale blue Amuse twinkle rhinestones. Little bit like a water drop.
MOOD WHEN DONE = Inky, in a good way.
