Project 100: 41 - 44/100: Die Cut Flat Note Cards

Yesterday's post was classic stamping. Today, just paper and glue...

Love flat note cards. 

The first 4 on this post are for my son away at college.   (Project 100 is my plan to send him 100 cards while he is at college. I chose these messages just for him!)  All are A2 size. 

Designed these using the Silhouette digital cutter.   The words and strip are cut into Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80 lb. cardstock.  Bottom layers are  Lime, French Roast, Ocean, and Onyx cardstocks from A Muse Studio. 

Had so much fun making the first 4, I decided to use a houndstooth cut on the white layer and see what happens.  The bottom layers are A Muse Studio Buttercup and Onyx cardstocks and a bright pink Stampin Up layer.  Loved the bold and graphic result.

Project 100: 40/100 - Big Block Letters

Title says it all!  (For those of you newish to the blog, Project 100 is my plan to send 100 cards to my son, who is away at college.)  Since he is in the middle of his 3rd year, I better step up the program!

Card Construction Details:  (inspired by a card made by Kristina Werner in the Clean and Simple card class)

 

1.  Die cut 4 layers of Daffodil cardstock by Stampin Up.  Used my Silhouette to cut the letters.

2.  Adhered the top layer of letters with temporary tape onto scratch paper, stamped with Onyx Versafine using the By Definition background by Stampin Up.  Embossed with clear powder.

3.  Removed embossed letters from scratch paper and adhered all 4 layers.  HINT:  when stacking layers, use liquid glue so you can move them around.

4.  Used Ranger Distress Inks to color each letter.  This soaked through the edges.  Went to bed and let the letters dry.

5.  Woke up.  Everything dry.

6.  Added stitching with a white gel pen to letters.

7.  A2 A Muse Studio Onyx card, rounded corners and added more stitching.  HINT:  Place paper on gridded paper and add one "stitch" per grid.

Project 100: 39/100: You Are Loved

 

 Appropriate for a son?

Why not?  It's the thought that counts, right?  (All cards are amazing to college kids, especially if you tuck in a twenty!)

Combined a Hero Arts image with a Paper Smooches sentiment. Oh and a Penny Black background on the bottom.  Layered the body and popped up the feathers and added Black Ranger Glossy Accents to all the dots.

Project 100: 38/100: Hi there

Another card for my son. Smiley faces!!  Didn't know I had this little stamp -- it is on a Hero Arts sentiment set and one of the teeny extras hidden in the set.  I don't know the name of the set as I bought it used. 

Stamped on PTI grid paper and colored with Copics. Die cut with a nestability.  Sentiment from PTI Mega Mixed Messages.  Popped up heart on dimensionals.  Corner chomped.

Smooth Sailing -- Hambo! (and Project 100: 36/100)

Well, it's not just a special day for Wills and Kate!!  (Although I will watch the wedding live -- bit obsessed with it....) 

Special for me too, in a fun stampy way. 

Almost two months ago Libby Hickson sent me a very nice email inviting me to be a Guest Designer for a Day for Hambo Stamps.  Shocker!  I LOVE the idea of a guest designer for ONE day -- not a lot of pressure. 

Today is the day! I was able to select any stamp and sentiment from the catalog.  I had a hard time selecting a pair of stamps, since so many of them are right up my alley!   Eventually I chose this happy Sailboat Frame and coordinating sentiment.

Here's my card -- surely this will brighten someone's day!

Colored the image with Copics and hand cut.  PTI White cardstock with A Muse Studio Blueberry and Blueberry Gingham cardstocks.  Layout from a card I saw on Laurie's blog, Soapbox Creations, (everything she makes is amazing.)  For some reason I am unable to copy and paste the link to her specific card with this layout, but credit is credit!

 

And since I had so much advance notice, I made a second card with these stamps -- for Project 100 --  my plan to send my son 100 cards while he is in college...

Watercolored the image on hot press watercolor paper with Tombow markers and hand cut; A Muse Studio Latte, Cranberry and Navy Cardstocks.

Project 100: 35/100: Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #42

Here's a 3 x 6 card for my son.  It combines a lot of favorite elements and techniques -- Waltzingmouse Stamps, Ranger Distress Inks, heat embossing, and kraft cardstock.

Card Construction Details:

1.  Decided to participate in the latest Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.  Wasted a LOT of paper and ink before I got to this.

2.  Took Ranger Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans distress inks and stamped on a craft sheet.  Sprayed with water and placed a piece of white cardstock face down.  Lifted and dryed with a heat gun.

3.  Stamped the large set of circles from Free Spirit in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.

4.  Added more distress ink on top and wiped off.

5.  Distressed edges of panel with Faded Jeans and added a few white stitches with a white gel pen.  Adhered to a 3 x 6 Kraft card.  Crooked.  Don't ask.

6.  Stamped sentiment from Free Spirit Sentiments (love this set) on white cardstock.  Stamped Faded Jeans onto a craft sheet, and without spraying water, placed sentiment panel faced down and pressed with hand.

7.  Trimmed, distressed edges and added white stiching to sentiment panel.

8.  Found die cut button in white and colored with both distress inks, threaded with twine and adhered.

MOOD WHEN DONE = Beyond Happy That It is Friday (yes, did this in the wee hours of Friday morning.  No rest for the crafty)

Note about the sentiment hanging off the side of the card:  It bothers me when parts of cards go beyond the size of  a standard card.  It just doesn' fit with my vision of how things should be! LOL

In these cases, some folks use a larger envelope, others just enjoy making the card and have no plans to use it.  Others make the base card smaller than the envelope.  In this case, I'll be sending this in a business size envelope.  Terrible I know but trust me when I say my son won't care!!

Project 100: 34/100: Gender Change

No, I am not turning into a guy.  However, I took one card and changed it into a card more suitable for a guy.  And now I have two cards, one of which fits the bill for my son.

Here's the first card --  love this color combo (which I think would be fine for a guy without the bling, but I am not sure that the masculines in my life would agree):

To turn this card into a masculine card, I changed the colors and eliminated the heart rhinestone.  I also inadvertently switched the orientation of the stripes.  Otherwise, these are identical.

I really miss the bling in the second card!

Project 100: 33/100: Smile

If I'm going to make 100 cards for my son, then I better pick up the pace!  I went graphic and a bit wacky for this one but I like the result!

 Card Construction Details:

1.  Took a half sheet of Cranberry cardstock, folded and scored so that the color is inside the card.
2.  Stamped one of the circles from Lots of Dots repeatedly in Cranberry ink.
3.  Stamped a row in Papaya (Papaya is a bit more orange than I could capture in the photo).
4.  Are my rows perfect? No 
5.  Stamped Smile in Memento Tuxedo Ink.
6.  The ever present what next?  It needed something.  Went to Florida, came back and drew a rectangle.  Is my rectangle perfect?  No   I see a theme here.

Project 100: 32/100: Let's Talk Masculine Cards

Stating the Obvious Alert:  masculine cards do not have to be brown and contain a tool or sport.

I have it on good authority that men like flowers.  And bright colors.  And can handle some bling.  They might as well enjoy nature's bounty too.  Nevertheless, I added quite a bit of black to this card because it is going to my son (Project 100 is my project to send 100 cards to my son at college...) and the black tones it down a bit.  See that blue?  It is A Muse Studio's "Ocean" -- declared a beautiful color by none other than my husband. So take that, brown! 

Since the making of this card is pretty obvious, and since I want to stamp more, I'm going straight to the supplies!

Stamps:  A Muse Studio Beautiful Botanticals, Mad for Plaids (I used a tiny portion of the zig zag faux sewing stamp) and sentiment by Hero Arts (name of set unknown)
Ink:  A Muse Studio Ocean and Versafine Onxy
Cardstock:  A Muse Studio Ocean and Sugar (white) and random black
Other:  tiny rhinestones colored with Black Copic (yes rhinestones are fine for men)

Random Thoughts --

This card couldn't be more different than the apples card I posted below.  I love the versatility of stamping.  I get bored if I try and stick to one style.

The less I worry about blogging, the more stamping I'm doing.  I made this card last week.  There was a time when I felt like I "had" to get it up on the blog right away.  No more.  So I'm blogging more than the once a week I thought I would, but still feeling no pressure. Sweet.

 

Project 100: 31/100 -- Hello

Number 31 in my effort to send cards to my son.  Word is he likes them.

This is a simple, a 3 shades of blue hello.  Love this font.
