One Layer Birthday - CAS-ual Friday Challenge

Here's a one layer birthday card that I am submitting to the CAS-ual Friday birthday challenge (CFC51). 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Cleaned my stamp room and put about 35 sets in storage for use later this year and organized and labeled the rest.  Nice feeling.

2.  A2 white card, scored on the side.

3.  Stamped sentiment from PTI Beautiful Butterflies in Memento black ink.

4.  Stamped 3 small images from PTI's Honey Bees set in various Ranger Distress inks.

 5.  Stamped row of hearts from PTI's Around and About Sentiments in Ranger Festive Berries ink and a separate heart from that same set in the upper corner of the sentiment.  I like the 3 pops of bright red Festive Berries Distress ink that form a triangle of sorts.

6.  Using a red primsacolor pencil, filled in the red hearts and flower, as clear stamps and Distress inks are not a great match.

7.  Rounded corners.

8.  Adhered black sequin (from Impress Rubber Flower Sequin Kit) to center of red flower.  Nice alternative to rhinestones.

MOOD WHEN DONE = Cheerful, despite listening to a budget debate on C-Span. 

Unchallenged

 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Spent hours and lots of paper and ink trying to make another card for a color challenge (see post below).  I'm just stymied by challenges.  Rather than spur my creativity, they block it.  So....

2.  Made this instead!

3.  A2 Kraft card, die cut edge.

4.  Stamped little border from PTI's Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs in Ranger Distress Barn Door.

5.  Stamped sentiments from same set in Onyx Versafine.

6.  Selected ribbon to go with happy sentiments.  Tied, fiddled, tied, etc.

7.  Trimmed Bazzill White textured cardstock to fit on back of scalloped side and adhered.  (This was harder than it should have been as I couldn't get a perfect fit.)  Several attempts later, done.

MOOD WHEN DONE = Unchallenged!

Had a great little get away with Mike over the weekend.  Beautiful weather, music, food.  Sigh.  Can't wait for our vacation in August!  Hope your week is going well. 

Uneven Rows Are Better

than wasting paper!

I've thrown out an awful lot of cardstock trying to get a perfectly lined up row.  Even with clear stamps, a gridded block, and graph paper, creating a perfectly aligned row is a crap shoot.  So a purposefully uneven line comes in handy and for an image like this.

Stamped with A Muse Studio Grass and Ocean inks -- perfect ink for solid stamps.  Fit the sentiment in just the right spot.  Stamps from Take Three Summer from PTI.

More Butterfly Dreams

Today I'm sharing another card made with Butterfly Dreams, a great set from Papertrey Ink-- it is filled with so many different styles of butterflies and some great sentiments.  Definitely worth the $$.  I was very sorry when its designer, Niki Estes, left Papertrey.  I hope another stamp company hires her to design sets.

 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Trimmed A Muse Studio Sugar cardstock and stamped butterflies as shown with Memento Tuxedo Ink.

2.  Colored with Copics.

3. Hand drew line using ruler, connecting butterflies (NO idea why, just goofing around).

4.  Stamped sentiment.

5. Added a bunch of clear rhinestones with a Quickie Glue Pen.

6.  Trimmed with corner rounder and adhered to black mat.

7.  Adhered with dimensionals to A2 Sugar card with side fold.

Color Block Butterflies

Been making cards with Butterfly Dreams from Papertrey -- a set too long neglected.  Here's the first one I made, and I decided to submit it to the CAS-ual Friday Color Block challenge.

 

 

 

 

 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Trimmed white PTI cardstock to 4" x 5.25".

2.  Stamped outline butterfly image from PTI Butterfly Dreams as shown, overlapping a bit, in Memento Tuxedo.

3.  Got out color wheel, and selected Copics to use. Colored in with Copics, coloring the overlapped portions of the wings with both colors.

3.  Stamped sentiment from PTI Birthday Basics.

4.  Adhered orange rhinestones (Impress Rubber Stamps) with Quickie Glue Pen.

5.  Rounded corners on one side, added some orange ribbon (needed a 3rd pop of orange.)

6. Adhered to A2 White card with dimensionals.

MOOD WHEN DONE = Colorful

Those Punny Cards

are sometimes my type, sometimes not.  This would be cute for a kid's birthday.  Or an adult with a sense of humor?

And Erica asked about my decision to get a Silhouette vs other machines.  Will report later this week on my extensive research and what I plan to DO with the Silhouette.  Hint -- the purchase is directly related to my Mom's refusal to move to assisted living!  Can you say stress?

Krafty Smile

Nothing like bright flowers, polka dots and kraft cardstock to bring a smile to someone.  This card was inspired by this Lawn Fawn card by Britta. 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Thought about buying the Lawn Fawn set that Britta used and then got a grip.  Shopped the stash for smallish fun outline flowers.  NONE!  May need a purchase soon.

2.  A2 Kraft card (PTI).  Stamped the flowers from PTI Garden of LIfe with Memento Tuxedo ink and then hand drew the stems and leaves.  The set comes with solid stems and leaves but didn't want solid...

3.  Colored in with Prismacolor Pencils -- HINT:  Don't color over the black lines of the swirly flower like I did.  Be more careful!

4.  Searched the stash for a sentiment that was the right size, the right font, and the right feel.  Found this one from my A Muse Studio starter kit.

5.  Stamped the sentiment and smudged it.  Big smudge under the "e" tail in smile! So used to stamping with clear stamps that it is hard for me to switch to a different style.  Different style = different pressure.  Covered up with dots. 

6. Rounded all the corners.

7.  Thought about a ribbon but added clear plastic circle tiles to the center of 3 of the flowers.  Not into ribbon lately.

About my last Dear Paperlicious post --

Mike was being sarcastic when he was encouraging me to spend.  I am not getting a Silhouette, Going to the PTI thing, and the Papercrafts Cruise!  After a year of debating and researching, I did order the Silhouette on Sunday.   So one out of three isn't bad!

Blackberry and Lime

A very nice person reached out and did something very sweet for me.  Thus, the card!  Hard to photo Blackberry, but I tried...

Card Construction Details

1.  A2 A Muse Studio Blackberry card, cut at 4.25", scored and folded so score on side.

2.  Score again 1/4" in from fold to leave room for A Muse Studio Lime paper.

3.  Ink Impression Obsession Cover a Card Gingham stamp with AMS Blackberry ink and stamp part of card (covered part that I did not want stamped with paper).  (Versamark does not work well with A Muse colored cardstock -- the image is too faint, but tone on tone works great.)

4.  Repeat with polka dot background from Cornish Heritage (retired).

5.  Stamp berry leaves from PTI Everyday Button Bits with AMS Lime ink.

6.  Die cut "buttons" with scraps, including a blackberry piece stamped with gingham.  PTI Button dies.

7.  Stamp sentiment in Lime ink, trim and adhere to Lime cardstock.

8.  Sew die cut buttons (such a great invention as buttons are so hard to mail!) with white cotton floss. Stamp Lime cardstock with polka dots, trim and adhere.

9.  Rounded corners to balance the lime strip.

MOOD WHEN DONE = Sweet

And here's a picture to show how the card lies so flat.  This is one reason why I love this cardstock!  Funny how such a little thing makes me happy!

 

Another CAS-usual Friday Bling Challenge

Let's face it.

Bling is good.  It's a great way to add a little something to a card without spending a fortune.  (I adhere all my bling -- even so called "self adhesive" bling with a Quickie Glue pen.)

And apparently I'm addicted to the CAS-friday Challenge Blog.  At least this week's challenge to use bling caught my eye and I made this card with the challenge in mind.  (Normally, challenges scare me, but not this one...)

 

 

 

 

 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Remembered that I bought a used Papertrey Ink Beyond Basic Borders set.  Love that leafy stamp.

2.  A2 white card.

3.  Stamped sentiment in A Muse Studio Blueberry ink (a really happy blue).

4.  Stamped leaf border in AMS Sage ink.

5.  Punched flowers out of AMS Buttercup cardstock (punching easy due to thinner cardstock).  Shade of yellow perfect with Blueberry -- both bright and happy.

6.  Adhered blue rhinestones with a Quickie Glue pen and bent up petals.

7. Adhered flowers to leaf border.
