Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge 91

The sketch?

One layer! Right up my alley. Here's my take. Normally I would have cut out the butterfly and adhered; but no, have to play by the rules. 

Hope I get to make another one, but my week coming up is looking chock full of everything except stamping.

Card Construction Details:

1. Stamped butterfly from Waltzingmouse Stamps Nordic Spring onto A2 card.

2. Colored with Prismacolor pencils.

3.  Stamped sentiment from WMS.

4.  Using craft knife, cut out part of the wings of the butterfly.

5.  Added Ranger Glossy Accents to center of fly and yellow dots.

MOOD WHEN DONE = listening to a lecture by Bill Clinton and Jon Stewart.  Interesting.

My Favorite Things . . .

3 of my favorite things -- kraft cardstock, colored pencils, and Ranger Glossy White Accents.

I'm a lukcy duck and won a spot in Jennifer McGuire's and Kristina Werner's online summer camp.  I'm also lucky that I finished this card before I saw this week's color challenge.  (However, I have another card with these colors that I just need to photograph...)

Card Construction Details:

1.  A2 Kraft card.

2.  Stamped various flowers with Memories Dye ink.  Elongated the 3rd stem with a fine black pen because the stem was not long enough.

3.  Colored flowers with Prismacolor pencils -- yellow, orange, red, lighter green and a darker green.

4.  Stamped sentiment in wrong place -- should have been a bit lower.  Added small flowers to try and tie the sentiment with the rest of card.  Did I succeed?  Who knows?  Eye in the beholder and all that...

5.  Added Ranger Glossy Accents.

6.  Rounded corners.

Krafty Smile

Nothing like bright flowers, polka dots and kraft cardstock to bring a smile to someone.  This card was inspired by this Lawn Fawn card by Britta. 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Thought about buying the Lawn Fawn set that Britta used and then got a grip.  Shopped the stash for smallish fun outline flowers.  NONE!  May need a purchase soon.

2.  A2 Kraft card (PTI).  Stamped the flowers from PTI Garden of LIfe with Memento Tuxedo ink and then hand drew the stems and leaves.  The set comes with solid stems and leaves but didn't want solid...

3.  Colored in with Prismacolor Pencils -- HINT:  Don't color over the black lines of the swirly flower like I did.  Be more careful!

4.  Searched the stash for a sentiment that was the right size, the right font, and the right feel.  Found this one from my A Muse Studio starter kit.

5.  Stamped the sentiment and smudged it.  Big smudge under the "e" tail in smile! So used to stamping with clear stamps that it is hard for me to switch to a different style.  Different style = different pressure.  Covered up with dots. 

6. Rounded all the corners.

7.  Thought about a ribbon but added clear plastic circle tiles to the center of 3 of the flowers.  Not into ribbon lately.

About my last Dear Paperlicious post --

Mike was being sarcastic when he was encouraging me to spend.  I am not getting a Silhouette, Going to the PTI thing, and the Papercrafts Cruise!  After a year of debating and researching, I did order the Silhouette on Sunday.   So one out of three isn't bad!

Waltzingmouse Stamps Preview Day Three

Day 3 of the Waltzingmouse previews and I have 2 cards to share.

 

Next up -- a card similar to the birthday one I showed yesterday -- quick, clean and crisp card.  I stamped 5 flowers and 15 leaves, colored with Copics and cut them out all in less than a half hour.  Then I added stickles to the center of each flower.  Hmm.  Something was missing... 

Hint:  Here's a pic of the flower before I added the Black Copic to the center of the flower.  The black made a huge difference in the card, forcing your eye toward the flower first. 

If you've been paying attention, by now you know that the flower and leaves are from Big Blooms Poinsettia and the sentiment is from Compliments of the Season.

And #3 is way out of my comfort zone -- a card for a little girl's 6th birthday.  Layout is based on one by Kristina Werner. 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Stared at Holiday Labels No. 14 set.  No clue.

2.  Remembered that patterned paper exists for a reason.  Used Sassafrass Lass Count Me In Wee Bundle and cut strips. 

3.  Masked off most of an A2 Kraft card, randomly stamping the grid background from Off Beat Backgrounds in white ink. 

4.  Stamped label from Holiday Labels No. 14 onto a solid piece from patterned paper collection with Versamark and embossed in white.  (Isn't embossing wonderful?  Just one step below potato chips.)

5. Stamped number 6 from Free Spirit Sentiments in center of label with Memento Rose Bud ink.  Trimmed label by hand.

6.  Punched a slot with a Stampin Up punch at top of card for PTI Raspberry Fizz ribbon and threaded through hole and tied.

7.  Added white faux stitching.  (Better to do before ribbon, but...)

8.  Made coordinating envelope.

Waltzingmouse Stamps Preview Day Two

Today I am showing two completely different cards.  One took a while; the other a few minutes.

I used Waltzingmouse Stamp sets Big Blooms Poinsettia, Compliments of the Season, and Frame-It for the first card --  this is as vintage as I get! 

Card Construction Details:

1. Rubbed Ranger Linen Distress ink over piece of Stampin Up Confetti Cream cardstock.

2. Stamped my favorite sentiment from Compliments of the Season in Memento Tuxedo ink and alternated with the little flower/star from the same set, using Papertrey Scartlet Jewel ink.  Discovered that stamping on top of Ranger Distress ink causes the other ink to be distressed as well.  Decided to go with it. 

3.  Now have nice patterned paper.  Ponder and go make dinner.

4.  Stamp Frame from Frame-It with Memento Tuxedo ink on the panel and trim panel. Sweet.

5.  Ink up edges of panel with PTI Tea Dye inks and distress edges.  Eat dinner.

6.  Stamp flower from Big Blooms Poinsettia set on Confetti Cream cardstock and color with Copics.  Hand cut.

7.  Make A2 card from Confetti Cream and rub Linen Distress ink over it.  This causes card to soften a bit.  (That Ranger Distress ink has secret powers!).

8.  Stamp my all time fave background from Pic - Nic Patterns in Tuxedo ink and soften edges with PTI Tea Duos.

9.  Trim Scarlett Jewel panel to place behind patterned piece.  Distress.  Add gold Liquid Pearls to background. 

10.  Adhere whole thing and hope for best.

And ...

A true 5 minute card...

Stamp cupcake 3 times. 

Stamp sentiment.

Color cupcakes. 

Add bling...

Done!

Both the cute little cupcake and the sentiment are from Frame-it.

Simplicity's OLW Challenge 8: Masked Background

Here's my submission for Susan's One Layer Wednesday Challenge, which you can find here.  It took me almost an entire week to think up anything for this challenge.  As I've mentioned before, in my view, "challenge" and "hobby" don't belong in the same sentence, but I'm so inspired by Susan's stamping that I figured I had to try!  Sketches?  Now that's almost beyond me! 

Card Construction Details:

1.  Cut 2 pieces of scrap paper with a Making Memories curvy trimmer.

2.  Held the pieces down on the A2 white card and used various Memento inks to sponge layers as shown.  Thus, I have a "masked background" on a one layer card and have successfully completed the challenge!! 

3.  Put letters on block from a PTI alphabet set and stamped onto vellum first.  Placed vellum over the waves to see if it matched the top curve.  First try a success.  Got to love those clear stamps!

4.  Left space for the "o" in You because that's what I see famous stampers do.  Looked down to see Butterfly Dreams set still on table.  Used butterfly for the "O" -- which I believe may be the first time this has been done in the history of the universe (no need to point out that I am wrong.)  (Wanted a little fish, but apparently have no fish.  Amazing given the pile of stamps I have...)

5.  Added a little bling.

Question if you care!  Should I leave as is or add a yellow red sun in the top left corner?  I am afraid to ruin this baby but wonder if all that whiteness is too much compared to the bottom of the card.  Then again, maybe I am thinking too much. 

Project 100: 23/100: Masculine One Layer

Thanks so much for your very kind comments on my last post.  My blog readers are the best!

On to a card --

For those of you unfamiliar with "Project 100" it is my effort to make 100 cards to send to my college student son.  (Let's face it, he loves getting the cards but I doubt he is paying attention to the designs.)  If you are looking for masculine cards, click on the Project 100 category here on the blog and you can find a bunch! 

While he is home for the summer, the project continues!  Here's one that uses Papertrey Ink's Outline Alphabet, but could easily use any alphabet and any color combo. It is about as simple as it gets.

Card Construction Details:

1.  Made 4 and 1/4" square card from Gina K Kraft cardstock.

2.  Lined up "hi" on Stampin Up grid paper and got it right the first time.  Stamped with Memento Tuxedo ink.

3.  Stamped dotted circle.

4.  Colored in "hi" with Real Red SU marker.

5.  Looked boring.  Made another card and came back to this one.

6.  Added black line by drawing with SU marker and a ruler.

7.  Looked boring.  Made breakfast for my Mom.

8.  Decided every kraft card benefits from a pop of white and added white as shown. The dot over the "i" is white embossed.  Not the neatest job, but it started out as a blob of Ranger Glassy Glaze.  Don't ask.

9.  Rounded bottom corners.
