Directing Your Attention: Other Blogs

Yes, there are other blogs!!  (I have no idea why as Paperlicious should be providing you with all your stamping blog needs.  HA!)   I like to highlight a few of my faves every once in a while.  So many blogs, so little time...

Card of the Week is awesome!  Susanna highlights works of art that she selects as the best of the best from the week.  Yes, one of my cards was selected a while back....but that's not why I am recommending this blog.  It's just good!

You are probably already following Trudee's Bliss, but just in case you aren't get thee to Follow Your Bliss.

Cindy's The Creative Closet is full of work that is bright, cheery, and beautiful.

And, Natasha Trupp started a second blog that has quickly become one of my faves -- Clean and Simple

So, that's it. If I send you to too many other blogs, Dear Paperlicious might get testy, so come on back!

Introducing Airbornewife's Blog

My friend Pam Tetreault, SU Demo, wife, mother, sister, daughter, patriot, has started a blog.  Please check out Pam's blog HERE

I met Pam online through Splitcoaststampers and we've been corresponding through email and snail mail for years.  She is a prolific stamper and produces beautiful cards.

Want to know how nice Pam is?

Pam is so nice that she once stayed on the phone on hold with Provo Craft for 45 minutes because someone to whom I sold my Cricut had a problem with it!!!  Now, that's a friend!!! Pam sends me stuff.  She just sent me a DVD with pics from the Stampin Up Tulsa Regionals meeting.  Lots of cool stuff on that DVD!

I value my friendship with Pam and so look forward to actually meeting her when she moves to the east coast this summer.

Why are You Wasting Time . . .

checking my blog (?!), when you could be checking out the following for some eye candy!

Michelle Zindorf's blog -- if you frequent SCS, you already know that what Michelle does with a brayer is amazing.  But, she also creates art with pastels.  Seriously, this woman is in another league altogether.

GeekGirl's blog -- she totally cracks me up and her stamping is terrific too.  Denise is my kind of blogger!

Popsicle Toes Card Creations -- lots of lovely Papertreyink cards!

Kristina Werner -- I love her Make a Card Monday videos, but she's also posting lots of great stuff on days other than Monday!  Why can't I stamp like Kristina??

Directing Your Attention

There is an abundance of awesomeness out there in stamping blog land.  I bow before these stampers and invite you to take a peak at their work.

Check out Suzy's amazingly intricate paper cutting here.

Tracy always has something deceptively simple up her sleeve.  Are these drummers darling or what?

I have no Easter sets, and then I saw what Jennifer did with this one.  Darling!!  Now I want these chickies.

And, then Leslie Miller never fails to wow me with her sophisticated designs and watercoloring.  Look at this

Finally, I've been a fan of Dawn's work for a long time.  Check out these monkeys

Check Out These Bloggers and Politics Mom Style!

Look at this rocking use of Copic Markers and tulips by Scarlet And Gray.

Claudia's card is amazing -- check out her colors and the way she set up a scene!

I love Stamp Zia's fresh and gorgeous images.  Check out this card on her front page.  Stunning.

So, where have I been?

I've been a way for ONE whole night!  YAHOO.  No offense to my Mom, but I needed the break big time. I came back home and sat with her (she is helping me organize my ribbons and is thrilled to have a job!) for about 3 hours.  I listened to a 2 hour NON STOP monologue on Eli Manning and begged her to turn on the results of the Florida primary.  That was such a mistake (but soo entertaining)!!

Here's politics 2008 as seen through the eyes of my Mom (notice the total lack of focus on the issues!!):

Rudy Guiliani: "Why does he keep bragging about 911?  He wasn't even the mayor back then."  Hmm

John McCain:  "I feel sorry for him.  He is too old to be President and doesn't know it."

Barack Obama:  "I used to love the Kennedys until Caroline endorsed him.  Does she really want him to be like her father, running around on women all day long?"  "Besides, Obama isn't the last name of a President."

Hillary Clinton: "Delores (her sister in law) met her at Yale and said she is nice so I'm going to vote for her."  [My Aunt works at Yale and I guess Clinton came through when she was First Lady..]

Mitt Romney:  "What is a Mitt?  Someone tell me his real name and then I'll pay attention to him."

John Edwards:  "Who?"

Mike Huckabee: "President Huckabee?"  Doesn't sound right.

Good grief!  My Mom is the only one I know who voted for Barry Goldwater and Jesse Jackson for President.  What can I say??

Check Out These Bloggers!

There is so much fabulous art work out there that I can no longer keep up with Google Reader!  Amazing folks.  Check out these gems!

Indigo Studio -- good grief, Pam Bassett has a total of 1.5 years stamping experience!  I tell you, this is soo unfair for her to have all this talent!  Check out Pam's ribbon blossom tutorial while you are at it!  Gorgeous stuff.

Bitter Sweet Stamping -- love this cute spinner card!

Kwernerdesign -- I'm addicted to this blog! Kristina Werner's video tutorials are short, fabulous, and fun.  A MUST read.

Julie Ebersole Offering On Line Classes

Dear World,

This is NO joke.  Click here if you would like more information about Julie's on line classes.  At present, she has 2 classes available.  I've signed up for the Simply Great Card Design classes.  I cannot wait for February 20th!!!!  I've long admired Julie's ability to take some paper, some stamps and some ink and turn them into little magical lovelies.  And here is some more info on the details of how the classes work.

I soo need to learn about how to figure out where to put what, when, and why!  I've read about design but seriously, it just doesn't click.  Sometimes my cards give me a huge ahh! and I'm loving them and other times I'm wincing!  I can pick out a bad design, but cannot necessarily figure out why it's bad or why something is pleasing to the eye.

It will be great to learn what's behind a good design and hopefully apply those lessons in the future.  Hope to "see" some familiar faces there!

Signed,

Joan

ps.  not affiliated, just a soon to be better stamper!!!
