At my age, most of my friends are too young for grandchildren and way too old to be having babies, so I was delighted when one of my colleagues at work shared that she is expecting! I have only one baby set and it doesn't fit the "congrats on expecting a baby" theme, so I decided to take a different approach. This card, by Maile Belles, served as my jumping off point.
Since the sex of the baby is unknown, I decided to use both pink and blue. I love how it turned out and I think my friend did also.
Card Construction Details:
1. Listening to some really strange talk radio at 3 am!
2. Stamped butterfly "half border" in black and colored in with a Copic marker. (All stamps from Papertrey Butterfly Dreams.) Trimmed panel.
3. Stamped blue butterfly from same set and stamped sentiment over it. Routine move for many; advanced for me. Rounded corners. (What looks like a white line along the right side of the panel is the shadow in the photo...)
4. Punched out sentiment, added eyelets and threaded with white cotton floss.
5. Assembled white circle over panel and adhered.
6. Needed more white. Added white "antennae" with a pen over each butterfly.
7. Needed something. Used leftover blue cut out from a rectangle scallop die and adhered to edge.
8. Popped up with dimensionals on white card. Round corners.
9. Needed something. Added tiny rhinestone colored with Copic marker over "i" in Flight.
10. Not sure "tying down" a butterfly dream is a good idea, but card is done and looks cute.
