Lots of us have " crafty homes" on the net. Mine used to be Gingerwood until I changed computers years ago and lost my password and decided I wanted a site with a gallery. So
I moved most of my online energy to Splitcoast until someone mentioned there that "I posted all the time". I became self conscious and feared that I had been outed as someone with no life. So
I moved to Papertrey's forum until it got angry. At first, I took guilty pleasure in reading all the drama. It was like a Real Housewives of Stamping episode, flipped tables and all. But it didn't take long to feel bad about the whole thing. I really like a lot of the forum members and I'd like to keep it that way. And I started to feel sad over there. So
I've spent less time on the web and more time watching Law and Order and Dance Moms. I still visit and occasionlly post on the forums, but it isn't the same. So
I'm going to my real local stamp store on Sunday with a real live stamper and we will take a class from a live human being.
I'll try and keep my mouth shut.
EDITED TO ADD: Oh, thanks for the comments. Let me clarify my last sentence. I couldn't keep my mouth shut for long!! I can just try and not flip any tables!

Real life sounds good, Joan - I know just what you mean about the different forums.
Have fun keeping it real this weekend and don't you dare keep your mouth shut!! It would be an injustice to those around you!

Oh, Joan, I do wish you lived in my neighborhood---you sound like a great best friend! I always got a kick out of seeing you on Splitcoast---I felt like a fan who tracked you before Twitter, lol! You do what you want and just know that we love what you have to say, your cards, your rants and your life. Enjoy everything you can and come here to report back to us!!

I agree, I agree. I miss the PTI forum- I used to start off everyday there... but not so much anymore. I don't like to start my day with all that anger. Also Dance Moms- isn't that the most train wreck show ever??? I can not believe those are grown adult women!

Ditto what Nancy said. Talk all you want. You're interesting. Don't deny others your fabulousness!

Have fun with the class! I used to be on Gingerwood - until she started with all those rules, and I do lurk around SplitCoast occasionally but rarely post. I just look at the pretty pictures. I am boycotting Papertrey until she sees fit to use some of her profits for a decent shopping cart that allows for reasonable shipping rates instead of charging 6.95 to ship one lousy die. Well, I guess I can't keep my mouth shut, either! And as for drama - have you ever watched Toddlers in Tiaras? Whew!

Just wanted to say 'hi'. I hear you on the PTI Forum drama. So sad, and I try to stay on the happy threads. Have fun on Sunday.

Enjoy your class!!!

Well if you don't talk here then how will we get our daily dose of humor :-D
Posted by: smriti | February 11, 2012 at 12:03 AM
I'll just keep up with you on Facebook, smiling all the way! Stamp away!
Posted by: Donna Hitz | February 11, 2012 at 12:44 AM
are you kidding?....someone actually bothered to comment that you posted a lot....isn't that the point?????????? what is a forum without 'posters'....chuh.......Joan, you do realise that the reason you have so many 'fans' ( I know you won't like that term) is because you tell it like it is? you call a spade a spade (as we say here in Ireland) and that's worth something. You keep on truckin' Joan, don't be put off!!! You say what a lot of folks think, but maybe lack the courage to say, so don't underestimate how many of us are behind you (with maybe less guts...lol!!) Hugs to you!!!

Please don't stop posting! I tune in to your blog daily for inspiration or a good laugh. I guess there are catty and know-it-all people in every part of life. Please keep doing what you do!

Right on, sistah! Succinctly said, and as always, you nailed it.

I too can't believe someone commented negative to you. I thought that was the idea to post cards, etc. and comment on other's posts. I enjoy you and keep up the good work!

I love your posts on SCS! Dance Moms...a horrible show I discovered a few weeks ago...and watch on my iPad when everyone is in bed. :) Whether you post one time or thousands, I love reading them!

Lol! I would love to take a stamping class with you, especially if you weren't flipping tables. I know what you mean about on-line forums. I used to go on SCS a lot, then it went a bit sour for me and I basically stopped posting. That and I can barely maintain a blog let alone a blog+scs gallery. I haven't checked out the PTI forum, though my baser nature now wants to take a gander. But you're right, there's no need to add negativity to our lives from people we don't even know. On the one hand, I enjoy the on-line community, but I guess it's like real life, with all kinds of characters, for better and for worse!

I hear you about the nastiness of some of the other forums. I have enough drama at home, I don't want to get into more of it on-line. This is my escape. I don't want to be around the bashing and nit-picking, again my children give me a daily dose here at home. We need a happy place to go to on-line.
Anyway, enjoy your class. I would love to sit next to you. I think you would be a blast.

What you said resonates with me - this often happens when I read your stuff. Thanks. Chanda

Thanks for making me laugh! I don't know about the various forums of which you speak. I'm definitely a cardmakier on the "outskirts" of the papercrafting world and figured I'd never fit into the "inner circle" so have never tried to work my way in from the outside. I like to read blogs like yours and that makes me happy. As for a real class with real people... good luck. So, far my worst experience in the crafting world as far as "anger" goes was as the independent craft store in town. LOL!! So, locally it's sad to say I prefer my big box stores. Isn't it sad there's so much anger around. I haven't been papercrafting long at all compared to most of you I read, so I don't know what goes on in all the forums, but I guess as long as there are humans involved we can expect trouble! LOL!!

Really? Post too much?!! Uhhhh, and here I thought I was the outsider for rarely posting (SCS, blog, whatever). Who knew I had it right?! BHWHAAAAA
Your cards wow me and your humor gives me a smile each time you post. Post as much or as little as you like! I've got you bookmarked in my favs (yes, behind the times there too...don't do readers, subscribtions, etc. just visit when I have the chance). It's all good

To music...
"It's my hobby and I'll craft what I want to, craft how I want to, craft what I like to..."
That's as far as I've gotten. It's a hobby and it's an arguably free country so do what the hell you want. Isn't that the point of a hobby?
You're awesome! Nuff said!

Ohh Joan, don't ever be self-conscious about what you post, about what you say~~it makes you the wonderful individual that you are.
I've gotten caught in some of those *strings* on SCS and a couple of blogs ~~ it's pretty amazing how flamboyant some readers get over the simpliest things. I feel if it doesn't make me smile or giggle, then it's totally not worth my time :)
You, are definitely worth my time ♥

I love your humor, Joan. I don't get involved in anger and jealousy in the craft world. There is a lot of talent and people see fit to share, it's all good with me. If not and they only want to sell everything, I'm good with that, too, I just don't go back. I just wannna have fun!!!!!

Hey, Joan! I've just found your fabulous blog and have to say you had me in stitches with this post! I too watched the whole PTI Forum saga from the comfort of my sofa and then felt I had to turn off...it really did become a guilty pleasure!
I hope you had a blast with those stampy peeps IRL and I really hope you didn't keep your mouth shut because you say some funny things! :D
Hugs

Joan, you just be YOU! I rarely post anywhere and mostly just lurk because I don't know what to say outside of "I like that card". I like your blog because it is instructional and you are REAL. I only look occasionally and never post on the PTI gallery and didn't even know there was a bunch of drama there. I think there are a lot of people who need to realize PTI is a business that makes money for the owners. Why else are they doing it? Buy the stuff if you want to and go somewhere else if you don't like it. That's the nature of free enterprise.
I hope you don't keep your mouth shut - crafty blogland would get boring!

You crack me up! If I'm not mistaken, I don't live far from you. The closest LSS I know of is 45 minutes from my house. Would you mind sharing which one you go to? :)

Joan - isn't it amazing how people can be? I, for one, love to read what you write, and enjoyed your posts "back in the days" on SCS. I usually only go to one thread there anymore, and never really got "in" at the PTI forum, guess that's a good thing, I don't have time for more drama, lol. I guess maybe I should spend some more time in the WMS forum...but I think no matter where you go, there will always be trolls. Like I said to my 4 year old this morning "who cares what other people have to say about you, you know, and I know just how awesome you are". :) Post away girl, post away!!
