Another makeover! Both use Oven Fresh Gingerboy Love set from Waltzingmouse -- love these circular sentiments. These will go to a friend who has a little boy and a little girl. Perfect!
Here's the first card. Not bad, but it has a few issues!
And, here's the after!
First card with the critique:
Second card with critique:
Tip: the ribbon does not wrap through the inside of the card. Layed down adhesive, put piece of ribbon verticle on the card and then laid down the horizontal piece of ribbon and pressed down on adhesive. Took verticle piece of ribbon and tied. Hope this makes sense!
I'll be doing more "before and afters" -- primarily because I don't seem to really "see" a design until it is done. It is like editing my work in the office. I can't see the errors until I print out the paper and read the hard copy.
Supplies:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy
Other: SU striped ribbon and PTI ribbon; 1 and 3/4" circle punch; dimensional.
Ink: Versamark, Memento Bamboo, Versafine Red Satin; PTI Chai
Papers: Stampin Up! Kraft and retired patterned paper

ooh I LOVE them both. never noticed this set. it is adorable

Well, I agree with you (been cleaning. It's going to make me picky). The first card has one too many different stripe paptterns on it. I think if you substitute the ribbon for a solid....BINGO!! (not that a young boy would notice. Actually, he'd probably like all the different stripes!! hehe)
You nailed the second card.

I like the second one better, too. I also like that someone else besides me (that would be YOU) shows part of the creation process and not just a perfect finished card. :)

Actually I like all of the samples - great choices of elements. Very sweet.

I would have thought the first was perfect - until I saw the second!

You are really good at this before and after thing, Joan! I knew I liked the second one better but wasn't sure why until I started reading your description! The dotted paper and the little red hearts really did add an extra something special! More of these, MORE! It's like a little mini class everytime you post one!

I like the before and after examples. It helps inspire me to think about what I do and see that there are ways to improve. Not just give up.
Like someone has already said, I didn't notice anything the matter with the first until you showed the second. And now you have two cool cards!

Hi Joan, I loved looking at your before and after cards. I do like the after card. I think adding less stipes was an excellent idea. I also love that you innked up the edges of the card. Cute stamps you used too.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Joan.

Super post Joan, before and after posts are sooo interesting, I love to see how other folks attack card design!!

I like all of them in all combinations of dots and stripes. But, it occurs to me that one could slowly go mad in the search for the perfect Christmas card design.
Merry Christmas - and thanks for posting lovely card designs and witty commentary.

Hey, Joan! Wanted to come thank you for visiting my blog! It's always nice to hear from a new friend! And you're on the WMDT...Oh, you lucky girl!! This was a really interesting post! (CUTE cards!!) It's nice to hear from someone else who makes cards and then feels the need to "fix" them! That happens to me so often...I feel like I'm wasting my supplies, but I can't "see it" until it's DONE-- only then can I see where I went wrong. I'm hoping it will come easier someday soon!! Thanks so much for sharing!!

I like how you've explained the differences between the two cards. Both are very sweet! I can see your point about too many stripes on the first, and I do like the hearts in red on the second. However, both are just great!

I didn't even notice the "flaws" in the first card until you pointed them out. I do like the changes though. Finished card= EXCELLENT!! :)

You are a nut. I figure getting one done would be a boon but to then make another one and critique yourself? Whoa. I need all the validation I can get so I ain't heading in this direction any time soon! I do love all the krafty goodness in both cards!

Uh, ok, I never would have noticed the bent corner... :) Anyhoo, love the fun cards -- both of them! Definitely love that you switched up the patterns for the second one -- just lovely!
