Card Construction Details:
1. Goofing around and decided to name this a technique because it is the internet/wild wild west of crafting and we can do what we want. Someone else has probably explained this "technique" already. In fact, it is possible I have.
2. Select a light colored cardstock -- white or off white doesn't work for this technique, as the contrast between the markers, or colored pencils or whatever you are using to color the image, would be too great and your less-than-perfect coloring will show. By "your", I mean "my."
3. Stamp a line image in something softer than black. In this case I stamped Memento Cocoa on Sweet Blush cardstock (that's brown ink on pink paper for my 1 non crafty reader)... (I have another card coming up with this same technique, but where I used Aqua cardstock and a dark blue ink.) Just try out some combos on scrap paper until you see one you like.
4. Take a deep breath and select a colored marker, pencil, etc. that is close to the cardstock. I used 2 Copic markers --R 11 and R 30.
5. Color the inside of the image, petals, with the markers, and just feather out the ends. With white paper, all the lines would be much harsher. But with a colored cardstock and similar toned markers, there are no mistakes. Go over several times until you are happy or it is time to make dinner, whichever comes first.
6. That's it. Do whatever else you want. I added some accents with a white gel pen on the inside petals and it helped pop up those layers.
7. Notice the edges of each flower. They almost look white. It's just the absence of the Copic markers. In real life it is a bit more pronounced...
8. For the base card, I chose kraft and I think it works well. Again, avoid white, although no one is going to jail for using a white card base. Just fool around and see what you like best.
Really, no need to submit my name to a magazine. Your love is enough...
Mood When Done = Anticipating Huge Award in My Honor

The card is gorgeous and the technique is one I'll use (if I don't forget about it first). Thanks!

This is gorgeous! I love the look. So soft and pretty. At first I thought I'd clicked onto Nichole Heady's blog by mistake. Nope, Dear Paperlicious strikes again. Gel pen accents, hit of kraft, pink and brown. Scrumptious! The pièce de resistance for me is the little popped out flower over the edge of the sentiment strip.
This is gorgeous, and I hope to see you on the podium soon!

I'm not sure I've ever seen this technique. If I have, the explanation wasn't nearly as spectacular as yours.
You've made me want to go test out some colors of my own. Thanks a million!!

Wow! That is one gorgeous card! Those flowers have a 3D look to them. I read through your explanation to see if you had cut out parts and popped up with those foam adhesive dots. I am amazed that you didn't.
