December 13th -- this day is livin' in infamy, fellow stampers. The date of my last purchase! This whole marriage compromise/pay your taxes/save/pay your kid's college tuition/ adult way of living is sooooooo overrated. No wonder Van Gogh gave up his ear. He probably owed France taxes and had a responsible wife....
As soon as I get our taxes done and IF we do not OWE the equivalent of Iowa to Uncle Sam, I am buying something -- my wish list stretches from Gina K, drives through Cornish Heritage Farms and Verve, visits Flourishes, swoons a bit at Amuse and takes a large swath through Papertrey!! And then Kate at I Heart Papers has this May Arts sheer ribbon with little hearts on the edges!! Have you seen how cute this ribbon is? Somebody buy it and just post something using it. I can still get a bit of the buying buzz vicariously!!
Oh, and I hear that Stampin Up! is coming out with Digi Scrapbooking software (January or August? not sure) and some very cool die cuts and embossing folder things. The possibilities of Paperlicious stimulating the economy are endless!
In the meantime, I am very much enjoying discovering the long forgotten treasures sitting in my craft room closet. For this card, I used all Papertrey Ink images -- the Love sentiment from Mixed Messages, the Heart from Borders and Corners Hearts, and a flower from Pond Life.
The paper is Pixie Pink from Stampin Up, Black shiny textured from Bazzil, and the white is from Gina K. Can you see the glitter on the white part of the flower? IRL it adds just the right touch!
To answer a few questions from my previous post:
Is the Gina K paper as stiff as the Papertrey? Not quite. I give Papertrey the edge on stiffness.
Do the papers look different? Yes, Papertrey's is duller while Gina K's has a bit of a sheen.
How does Mike stand living with you? HA! Fake question!

Oh that ribbon.....be still my heart!! Happy New Year, Paperlicious - looking forward to keeping up with all your adventures in 2009.

Congrats on your non-purchases!! I wonder which would be easier... dieting or not shopping??!
Lovely card, Joan! It's SOOOOOOOOOOOooo pink {which I love} and I really like the clean layout with the white space... very nice :)

Nice card Joan. Your commentaries always crack me up.
If I don't buy something soon I'm going to shrink up. I can't hold out much longer so my DH will have to brace himself. Hopefully we both keep our jobs in 2009 so we can afford my hobby.

Hi Joan. Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your postings. I love your wit and your creativity. I feel your pain on the shopping thing -- I've also tried to stop buying everything I see that I want. But it is fun using what I already have. Good luck on your taxes. I think we've already got Iowa covered from here, so I'll be wishing you only need to cover the equivalent of Delaware or Rhode Island. Enjoy!
PS I think you need to find a way to sneak into the inauguration!

You are so evil for posting a link to that ribbon!!!!! It's torturing me! ;)

I feel ya on the spending freeze! We are saving for a house, so I have to ask, "Do I want this (insert any number of stamping related items here), or do I want a bigger house?" This responsibility thing is for the birds!!

Great way to use the stash. Although I look forward to what you can do with your 'stimulus plan'

On Sunday, there is an award for you on my blog.

Oh Joan...whatta time for such a resolution!! I just returned from the SU Leadership Conference and we were treated to a demonstration of the new Digi Scrapbooking program. It really does look awesome and very user friendly. However, it was repeatedly emphasized that it would not be released until LATER THIS YEAR. No date given at this time. I think I will bury my head in the sand and not think about taxes, but then again that just isn't my nature. My wish list just keeps growing!

Oh how I love this card! I am trying to use my "long-forgotten-oh -yeah- it- was- only- last year- when -I -bought- this" sets to incorporate with my newer ones. This mixing and matching is what we should ALL be doing! LoVe it!

I so hear you on the "I want"! We try hard to be good but then there are these sales and temptations! And on the kids college funds- I say we will never have enough so why bother ourselves so! Just kidding... but maybe not......debb

I really love your card and your discussions are worth the price of admission.
Thanks for the cheer on another snowy day in MI.
