Soft Flowers and some Blog Recommendations
Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi -- these "in colors" will be "out" in August when Stampin Up will release the new colors. I love these colors, particularly together, so I'll be sorry to see them go. I don't think I'm going to stock up -- I've done that in the past and then forgotten I had the papers. Too much stuff!!!
For this card, I've paired these colors with Papertrey Ink's Garden of Life set and some micro blue Amuse Twinkle dots (which I do not see on the Amuse Arts website any more).
The inside text is "Make each day your masterpiece." -- from Cornish Heritage Farms. I'm going to use this for a non traditional graduation card.
I've been following some non stamping, but craft related, blogs and thought I'd share the fun.

It's been over a week since my Mom has been out of the hospital. She seems ok, but really, really old -- old in her voice and memory and mannerisms. Is that just stating the obvious? We no longer can leave her home alone for more than an hour, so we've entered a new stage. It's like a drip, drip, drip rather than a tsunami...
I was thinking about this the other day and getting a little anxious over it and then thought about the Burmese and the Chinese who are coping with real tsunamis and earthquakes -- mega disasters that barely get attention over here. I'm sure that lots of those folks whose lives were smashed were taking care of sick relatives. So, now they also are homeless and have no water, etc. -- especially the poor souls in Burma -- and perhaps still responsible for their sick relatives. The mind reels.
So, rearranging our lives once again doesn't seem too bad, KWIM?
Thanks for listening and not sending me a bill!!!
Your card is so beautiful, and I love those colors as well!! Thanks for the blog recommendations (especially yours *wink*), and for your words of wisdom!!

Your post in poignant! We live in a tsunami/earthquake zone and have woken up at 5AM to hear that we are on alert...we are prepared at all times with emergency kits throughout our house but until that moment comes we really have NO idea--whenever there are disasters of this type I am very intrigued and saddened too--the loss is incredible. I have come to except that there are many seasons in life and that if you can embrace them with open arms (no matter how hard they are) then you can face anything.
Next year I will be caring for my grandmother. At this point it will be ok, she is still very capable but we are seeing the signs of aging take control of her life and I know one day I will possibly be talking to her and she will wonder who I am. It scares me but I am learning all that I can now and will take on the challenge when the time comes.
I commend you for entering this new stage with an open mind. Things will not be easy but the fact that you are talking about it and sharing your thoughts means you are accepting it for what it is. (((Hugs)))
BTW, I love your card!

Beautiful card Joan. Sounds like you're taking some time for yourself.
I saw the news tonight - and since you were mentioning the disasters around the world on top of people's own private disasters, there was a man in China trapped under a rock. Rescuers were not able to pull him out and he had been stuck under the rock for quite a few days. The rescuers were able to give him a phone so he could call his wife and tell her how much he loved her, and all his hopes for his life were fulfulled. He told her all he wanted to do was spend the rest of his life with her. How poignant. It was then said that the man had died after he had been removed by rescuers, that his heart had just stopped. Pretty sad! It's really only sad though, for those left behind to remember . . for him, he's off to a new adventure!

Thanks for the link to the 'Best blog Ever'! *grin*
I love you blog, for the humour and for the personal stuff too. Our family is going through something similar and there are times when your words sound like something I have thought (or said to the right person)

Very pretty card. I don't comment much on your personal struggles, because, quite frankly, I don't know what to say. But I do read, and sympathize and appreciate, not only what you're doing for your mom, but also that you share yourself with us.

The card is marvelous. Love the color combo. You are doing a good thing with your mom. Just take some time for yourself now and then. Hope you still have someone to look after her so you can get out.
