Dear Paperlicious -- Stamping and Politics
Dear Paperlicious,
I live in South Gambusta and am unfamiliar with the US system of politics. Do politicians stamp?
Signed,
Want to Know As Much As You Do
Dear WTKAMAYD:
Hey there other side of the world person!! Welcome to my explanation of politics USA and its relationship to stamping.
First, here is a brief summary of the Presidential race. The President runs the country. Kind of like the Shelli Gardner of the USA. Not quite as influential, but pretty important. Up until this year, the President has always been a POWG (pretty old white guy). This year, he may be John McCain (POWG), but may be a YAAG (young African American guy) -- Barack Obama, or a MAWW (middle age white woman). Our heads are spinning at the thought!!!
Right now the Repubicans are about to select McCain to be their nominee for President but half the Repulicans hate McCain so we have no idea what's up with that. The Democrats are in a knock down drag out fight between Obama and Clinton, so we have no clue where that is going.
Basically, we have no clue.
UNTIL TODAY!!!!
I was lucky enough to interview each of them.
My Interview with Barack Obama:
Q. Do you stamp?
A. Michelle takes care of the mail, I'm afraid. Not that I'm sexist. But, she takes care of making sure the bills are paid. And yes, we pay full price for postage stamps. No free ride here. No one in the US should expect a free ride. We are on a ride to change.
Q. I mean rubber stamp! Do you or your lovely wife, Michelle, ever make greeting cards using rubber stamps and paper?
A. Oh, yes we do. We set aside time traveling from one campaign stop to the next to make greeting cards for our supporters.
Q. Clear or rubber?
A. Definitely clear. I'm young, I'm hip, I'm into CHANGE. Rubber is so yesterday. Clear it is!!! However, those who support Rubber are to be respected and once elected, I will reach out to rubber fans everywhere in an effort to effect change.
My Interview with John McCain
Q. Do you stamp?
A. Yes. In moments of frustration, I can get a bit testy. (Aside to aide: who is this twerp?).
Q. I mean rubber stamp? Do you or your lovely wife, Cindy, ever make greeting cards using rubber stamps and paper?
A. Oh, yes we do. We set aside time traveling from one campaign stop to the next to make greeting cards for the troops.
Q. Clear or rubber?
A. What kind of question is that? (Aide whispers in ear)
Oh, rubber. I'm a true conservative. Stick with the tried and true. Never heard of clear and besides, rubber is fun, it's tested and has survived. Go rubber! Clear is for wusses.
My Interview with Hillary Clinton
Q. Do you stamp?
A. Well, I guess I could have stayed home and stamped rather than go to law school and fight for children and the elderly. But I chose the latter and haven't looked back. But, let me tell you, they'll be a lot of stamping going on if I don't win the Texas primary!!! In fact, when Bill and I were in law school, we started the first rubber stamping journal. We called it "Stamping on the Way to the White House." I have 5000 copies left and a list of supporters who endorse it if you are interested.
Q. Do you or your lovely husband, Bill, ever make greeting cards using rubber stamps and paper?
A. Oh, yes we do. In fact, Bill has a stamp camp every Thursday night with a whole bunch of enthusiastic stampers! Not sure what they do there, but every one seems to have a LOT of fun.
Q. Clear or rubber?
A. Excuse me??!!! (Aide whispers in ear).
Oh, I like both. Clear when you need good placement and rubber for detailed images. In fact, I have a position paper on this. Pros and cons of each. Would you like a copy? I can email it to you, fax it to you, or send it to you. In fact, if you are a superdelegate, I'll deliver it personally.
So that's it world wide readers. Now it is your turn to decide!
Sincerely,
Dear Paperlicious

Can't be any worse than who is already in the running and being a rubber stamping addict like the rest of us, I am sure you know how to prioritize a budget to fit the important things in. LOL

Oh my! This is just a hoot and a half! My hubby and I are a mixed marriage in politics (well, most areas - but that's for another stamping discussion) and we both loved this.
He has a political blog and is invited to nominate on another blog other "political" items to be mentioned in a "big-wig" (can you tell who blogs in the family?) blog on yet another blog. Anyway. these mentions are seen by a lot of people - he is still hoping one of his items gets picked up during the election.
I hope I have not overstepped my bounds by encouraging your fantabulous article to be shared above and beyond the stamper world.
My hubby is supposed to leave a comment here and I will check on that.
Again, this is wonderful and you should submit it to the local papers where the votes are still to be counted. I can see it in little (and big papers) in Pennsylvania (my homestate) and Texas (where I am exciled!).
I am a super baby stamper - have the paper, ink and stamps but just can't use them. I look at all these beauties and figure my fantasies are ok. :)
Blessings,
Paula

This is too funny Joan...hmmm...I mean dear paperlicious! I live north of the border but American politics has always drawn me and this just made me laugh out loud! Gotta admit I learnt most of my basics from the show West Wing (assuming you are a fan!) Is it me or is this election a bit parrallel to the last season of WW?
Cheers,

Joan,
You are just too funny! Maybe you should send this in to a stamping magazine. My question is, how in the world did you find time to write it? You're a lawyer by day, a stamper by night. Were you writing in your sleep?
